  • 4 slices sourdough bread or any sturdy sandwich bread Sourdough is preferred for its sturdiness and flavor.
  • 4 ounces Brie cheese, sliced with the rind on Thin slices help achieve melty consistency.
  • 2 tablespoons blackberry jam, seedless Adjust based on preference for sweetness.
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened For spreading on the bread.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Butter the outside of each slice of bread.
  2. Spread jam on the inside of one slice.
  3. Add sliced brie on top of the jam.
  4. Close the sandwich with the other slice of bread.
Cooking
  1. Heat a skillet over medium to medium-low heat.
  2. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook until deeply golden on both sides and cheese is melted, about 5-7 minutes per side.
  3. If needed, cover the pan for 30-60 seconds to help melt the cheese.
  4. Let the sandwich rest for one minute before cutting to prevent hot jam from oozing out.

Notes

Keep the heat medium-low to ensure the bread browns without burning while the cheese melts. Use softened butter for even browning and avoid overfilling with jam to prevent the sandwich from sliding around.
