Method
Preparation of Crust
- Mix graham cracker crumbs with melted butter and optional sugar. Press the mixture firmly into a 9x13 dish using the bottom of a measuring cup. Refrigerate to firm up.
Making Cream Layer
- Beat softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in whipped topping. Spread evenly over the crust.
Assembling Fruit Layer
- Slice bananas and layer them over the cream mixture.
- Evenly sprinkle drained crushed pineapple, followed by sliced strawberries.
Topping and Chilling
- Spread whipped topping over the fruit layer. Cover and chill for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight.
Finishing Touches
- Before serving, drizzle with chocolate syrup, sprinkle nuts, and add maraschino cherries. Serve cold.
Notes
For best results, drain the pineapple well and soften the cream cheese before using. Optionally brush banana slices with lemon or pineapple juice to prevent browning.
