Ingredients
  

Crust
  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs Can also use crushed vanilla wafers or chocolate sandwich cookies for a different crust flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional) Adds sweetness to the crust.
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
Cream Layer
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened) Soften at room temperature for best mixing.
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 8 ounces whipped topping or homemade whipped cream
Fruit Layer
  • 3 to 4 pieces bananas (sliced) Use ripe but firm bananas to avoid mushiness.
  • 1 can crushed pineapple (well drained) Drained thoroughly to avoid sogginess.
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced strawberries Pat dry if juicy.
Top Layer
  • 8 ounces more whipped topping To spread over the dessert.
Finishing Touches
  • chocolate syrup For drizzling.
  • chopped nuts (optional) Use if desired.
  • maraschino cherries To top each slice.
  • sprinkles (optional) For extra decoration.

Method
 

Preparation of Crust
  1. Mix graham cracker crumbs with melted butter and optional sugar. Press the mixture firmly into a 9x13 dish using the bottom of a measuring cup. Refrigerate to firm up.
Making Cream Layer
  1. Beat softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in whipped topping. Spread evenly over the crust.
Assembling Fruit Layer
  1. Slice bananas and layer them over the cream mixture.
  2. Evenly sprinkle drained crushed pineapple, followed by sliced strawberries.
Topping and Chilling
  1. Spread whipped topping over the fruit layer. Cover and chill for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight.
Finishing Touches
  1. Before serving, drizzle with chocolate syrup, sprinkle nuts, and add maraschino cherries. Serve cold.

Notes

For best results, drain the pineapple well and soften the cream cheese before using. Optionally brush banana slices with lemon or pineapple juice to prevent browning.
