Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks until fully browned.
- Drain excess grease but do not rinse the beef.
- Add diced onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture with baked beans, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix well.
- Taste the mixture and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Transfer the mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish and spread it evenly.
Baking
- Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 25-35 minutes, or until bubbly and heated through.
- Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before serving to allow the sauce to thicken.
Notes
For variations, try adding BBQ sauce, cheese, corn, or tater tots on top. Serve with cornbread or a simple green salad for a balanced meal.
