  • 1 package little smokies
  • 1 pound bacon, cut into thirds Use regular cut bacon for best results.
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar Add more for extra sweetness.
  • 1 pinch black pepper or chili flakes Optional for added flavor.
  • as needed toothpicks Helpful but optional.

Method
 

Preparation and Cooking
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup. Set a rack on top if available.
  3. Cut the bacon into thirds using kitchen scissors.
  4. Wrap each little smokie with a piece of bacon. If necessary, stretch the bacon slightly.
  5. Roll the wrapped smokie in brown sugar and place it seam side down on the pan. Use toothpicks for extra security if desired.
  6. Bake for about 25 to 35 minutes, until the bacon is browned and cooked through.
  7. Let them sit for 5 minutes before serving to cool slightly.

Notes

These bites are best served with toothpicks for easy snacking. Make a larger batch than you think you'll need as guests often come back for seconds.
