Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 8 oz Cream cheese, softened For a rich, creamy base.
  • 1 cup Sour cream To loosen the dip and add tang.
  • 1 packet Ranch seasoning Store-bought or homemade.
Main Ingredients
  • 2 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded Sharp is preferred, but mild works too.
  • 6 slices Bacon, cooked and chopped Cook until crisp.
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder Optional, but adds flavor.
  • 1 tsp Black pepper Optional, for seasoning.
  • 2 tbsp Green onions or chives, chopped To garnish on top.

Method

Preparation
  1. Cook the bacon until crisp, then let it cool and chop it.
  2. Soften the cream cheese for 20 to 30 minutes at room temperature or microwave in short bursts until soft, but not melted.
  3. In a bowl, stir together the cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch seasoning. Add garlic powder and pepper if desired.
  4. Fold in most of the cheddar cheese and bacon, reserving a little for topping.
Baking
  1. Spread the mixture into a small baking dish and top with the reserved cheddar and bacon.
  2. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15 to 20 minutes until hot and bubbly.
  3. Sprinkle chopped green onions or chives on top and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a quicker option, warm in a skillet on low heat, stirring often. If too thick after baking, stir in a spoonful of sour cream; if too loose, add more cheddar and bake longer.
