Preparation
- In a bowl, stir refried beans with a little taco seasoning. Spread that evenly in the bottom of a clear 9x13 dish.
- In another bowl, mix softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth. Add more taco seasoning if desired. Spread this mixture over the beans carefully.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese in an even layer over the creamy layer.
- Sprinkle the dry shredded lettuce over the cheese layer.
- For the red stripes, arrange diced tomatoes in horizontal rows on top, leaving spaces for the creamy and cheese layers.
- Cover the top left section with sliced black olives to create the 'stars' area.
Serving
- Cover and chill the dip for at least 1 hour before serving.
- Serve with sturdy chips to prevent breaking.
Notes
Keep wet ingredients away from the bottom layers to prevent the dip from becoming watery. Chilling helps the layers firm up.
