Ingredients
  

Churro Dough
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup unsalted butter You can substitute with margarine.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Gluten-free flour blends can be used.
  • 2 tbsp white sugar
  • Pinch salt
  • 2 large eggs Egg substitutes may be used.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Coating
  • ½ cup white sugar For coating.
  • 1–2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp melted unsalted butter For coating.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Mix the dough ingredients (water, butter, flour, sugar, salt, eggs, and vanilla) until smooth but not dry.
  2. Load the dough into a piping bag or Ziploc bag with a snipped corner.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your air fryer for a couple of minutes.
  2. Pipe the dough into small bite-sized pieces on baking parchment.
  3. Cook churro bites in the air fryer at 375°F for 8-10 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.
Coating
  1. While still warm, dunk churro bites in melted butter and roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture.

Notes

Store leftover churro bites in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Re-crisp in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes if needed. Experiment with different sugars or add orange zest for flavor variations.
