Ingredients

Core ingredients
  • 1 piece ripe banana (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/3 cup rolled oats old fashioned works best
  • 3/4 to 1 cup milk of choice dairy, almond, oat, whatever you like
  • 1/2 cup yogurt plain or vanilla, optional but makes it creamier
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup optional, depending on fruit sweetness
  • 4 to 6 cubes ice if using fresh fruit
  • 1 pinch salt tiny, but it makes flavors pop

Method

Preparation
  1. Add the milk to the blender first to help everything move around and blend evenly.
  2. Add oats next and blend for 5 seconds to get them fully broken down.
  3. Add the banana and blueberries. If the banana isn't very ripe, consider a drizzle of honey.
  4. Add the yogurt and a pinch of salt.
  5. Blend until totally smooth, starting on low and increasing for about 30 to 45 seconds. Adjust thickness with more milk or frozen fruit as needed.

Notes

For the best thick and creamy smoothie, use frozen fruit, avoid overdoing the liquid, and let it sit for 2 minutes after blending. You can also add protein if needed or mix in variations like peanut butter, green boosts, or chocolate.
